The 5th Annual 5K/10K Walk/Run to benefit Children's Hospital Foundation of Richmond, VA is Saturday, October 13th. The event is open to the public, walkers are welcome. A Tuckaway Mascot Mile event will be held for children ages 5-10. (Click Here) for more information or to register on-line.

Mascot Mile: (8:30 start time) A special event for children ages 5-10. Kids will race along a one mile course on the Hospital's grounds. Area mascots will cheer runners at every turn. All kids will receive a participation ribbon and a goody bag full of treats as they cross the finish line!

Mascot Mile Entry Fee:
$10 postmarked on or before October 1, 2007. $15 after.*

Start Times: Mascot Mile: 8:30am. Pre-Race Warm Up: @ 8:45am. 10K: 9:00am. 5K: 9:15am.

Registration: Register online (kalerunning link) or pick-up a registration form at any AFF location. Late registration can be done Friday, October 12, from 11am-8:00pm at American Family's Northside location: 5750 Brook Road, (804)261-1000, or on race day from 7am-8am at Children's Hospital of Richmond, 2924 Brook Road, (804)321-7474. Entry fees are non-refundable and entries are non-transferable, no exceptions.

Race Course:
The race starts and finishes at Children's Hospital of Richmond located at 2924 Brook Road (see map).

For Your Safety:
Water stations, medical teams and emergency phones will be available. The following will not be allowed: bikes, skateboards, rollerblades, dogs, headsets, and unregistered runners. Please note that strollers will ONLY be allowed for the 5K Walk.

The American Family Fitness 10K Training Team:
An 8-week training program including organized Saturday runs, lectures & stretching techniques is offered starting August 18th, 2007. Contact Mark Duncan for information: 804-337-7065. Race Activities: Music provided throughout race course by local radio stations. Post-race breakfast, health fair, kid's festival, decorated stroller contest, live music & more will immediately follow race. For more information call (804)228-5826.

Packet Pick Up: Friday, Oct. 12, from 11am-8:00pm at AFF Northside (5750 Brook Road/261-1000). First 1,000 participants receive race t-shirt. Late packet pick-up is on race day, Saturday, Oct. 13 from 7am-8am at Children's Hospital of Richmond, 2924 Brook Road.

Race Timing: The 10K Run will be timed utilizing the ChampionChip Timing Technology. Runners will wear a ChampionChip on their shoelace, Chips in the pocket or pinned to bibs will not be read by the timing equipment. Each timing Chip is equipped with a computer chip and coded specifically to each participant's assigned race number. Make sure that you don't swap chips and when you pick up your race packet you verify that all of your information is correct especially name, age and gender. All timing Chips must be returned at the finish line. If you pick-up your packet and know that you will not be participating, please do not pick up your timing Chip. If you pick up a timing Chip and don't return it you will have five business days to return it to KaleRunning.com, 1211 Buckingham Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23508 (please wrap the timing Chip with padding before mailing). If the timing Chip is not returned or lost, you will be charged a $35 lost/replacement fee. All Chips are scanned after the event for proper return credit by all participants. Race management and results will be provided by Kale Running. Official race results will be posted on www.KaleRunning.com.

Race Prizes: Cash awards will be presented to the top three male and female runners and the top male and female Master's runners. Random participants will also win a variety of fun prizes to be given away during our awards ceremony at the end of the race.

Parking: All participants and spectators must park in the assigned lot at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals on Sherwood Road (located across from Hospital). Parking for persons with disabilities is available at Children's Hospital.
